Oman has become the 21st State party to the Singapore Convention on Mediation, with the treaty entering into force for the Sultanate in September 2026. Brazil, Colombia and Kyrgyzstan have also joined recently, bringing the Convention past twenty full parties with 74 signatories.

Each accession strengthens the network effect at the heart of the Convention: the more places a mediated settlement is directly enforceable, the more confidently businesses can choose mediation over litigation for cross-border disputes.

Oman's position on the trade routes linking South and East Asia with the Gulf and East Africa makes this one especially valuable for Asian parties — one more corridor where a handshake, properly documented, now carries treaty force.
